Melvin J. Schwartz, MD, is the managing director at Schwartz Medical Group in Norwood, Massachusetts, a practice he started with his wife, Kay, more than 40 years ago. Dr. Schwartz is an internal medicine physician who specializes in adult and geriatric care.
After earning his doctor of medicine from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Schwartz relocated to New York City to complete his internship at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He completed one year of his internal medicine residency at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to Mt. Sinai Hospital to complete his residency training.
Dr. Schwartz completed his postdoctoral fellowship program at National Heart Institute in Petach-Tikvah, Israel. He then worked as a fellow in the nutrition lab at Mt. Sinai before serving as a senior surgeon with the United States Public Health Service for the Framingham Heart Study.
After working as an assistant professor at Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Schwartz opened his private practice.
Ever the entrepreneur, Dr. Schwartz’s practice has grown and includes a team of health professionals, including doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical assistants, and varied technicians.
He and Kay built a family while they expanded their medical practice.
